Martin Luther King once said: "An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."
This is so apt in the case of Dr. Mini Kurian who, when weighed down by life's challenges, rose higher and higher like a phoenix bird and continues to rise, spreading light and love to the more disadvantaged sections of the society.

Dr. Mini Kurien belongs to Tiruvalla in Kerala. She is the founder and chairperson of Centre for Autism India , headquartered in Tiruvalla. She is a resercher, counsellor and special educator by profession and a philanthropist by nature. She runs a school for autistic children in Tiruvalla where differently abled students from economically backward families are given free education with no aid from any Governmental agency.

Dr.Mini Kurian did her schooling in Kuwait and her undergraduate studies in India , graduate studies in UK and her specialisation in autism in the US. She has authored two books which give an insight into the world of autism. They are "Autism- Myths and Facts" and "A for Autism ". These books are useful for anyone who would like to understand more about these challenged sections of society and interact fruitfully with them. She is constantly researching ways and means to bring them to the mainstream society by equipping them with basic physical and social skills and building their confidence to become more independent.

Right from her childhood, Mini loved to help the deprived and the poor. As a child, she used to share her lunchbox with children who went hungry during the lunch break. Her passion and commitment for children with disabilities is genuine and stellar.

The world , today, is in need of more people like Dr.Mini Kurien who bring joy and cheer to the less fortunate members of our society through their philanthropic and selfless endeavours.
